Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba Aircraft Engine

The Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba was two ASM-3 turbo-shaft engines mounted side by side and geared at the front to drive a coaxial pair of four bladed contra-rotating propellers, they could be used together for maximum power or singly for cruse economy or in case of engine failure. The Armstrong Siddeley Double Mamba was developed in the late 1940's and was only ever used on the Royal Navy's Fairey Gannet which were operational from 1949 until 1978.
