Armstrong Siddeley developed the Genet in the mid 1920's, it first ran in 1926 producing 65 hp, later engines had their compression ratio increased which raised power output to 80 hp. The Armstrong Siddeley Genet proofed to be a popular choice for small light aircraft and remained in production for many years, in 1928 the Armstrong Siddeley Genet Major was introduced, this was, as the name implies, a scaled up Genet having nearly twice the displacement and power output, it was re-named the Civet for RAF service. |
