Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II Jet Fighter

The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7E Corsair II was based on the supersonic Chance Vought F-8 Crusader fighter, it was designed to be a subsonic light attack aircraft for the USN to replace the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk and entered service in early 1967. The Corsair II design was modified and replaced many of the Air National Guards older aircraft including their Republic F-105 Thunderchief, North American F-100 Super Sabre and Douglas A-1 Skyraider aircraft and remained operational until October 1993.

A total of 1,569 Corsair II's were produced and a small number were sold to Greece and Portugal, some of the Corsair II's are still operational with the Greek "Hellenic Air Force" but all other aircraft are long since retived.

  • Single 20 mm (0.787 in) M61 Vulcan gatling gun
  • Four LAU-10 rocket pods each holding four 127 mm Mk 32 Zuni rockets
  • Two AIM-9 Sidewinder heat-seeking short range air-to-air missiles

Any two of the following:

  • AGM-45 Shrike Anti-radiation missile (ARM)
  • AGM-62 Walleye TV-guided Glide bombs
  • AGM-65 Maverick air-to-surface missiles
  • AGM-88 HARM air-to-surface missiles
  • GBU-15 electro-optically guided Glide bombs
  • Up to 15,000 lb of the following Bombs:

  • 500 lb (227 kg) Mark 82 bombs
  • Mark 80 series unguided bombs
  • Paveway laser-guided bombs
  • Four B28, B57 or B61 nuclear bombs
