Westland Sea King Mk48 Military Helicopter

The Westland Sea King first flew in may 1969 and is a modified licence built Sikorsky S-61 Sea King powered by twin Rolls Royce Gnome engines. Sea Kings have served in various roles including anti-submarine and SAR (Search and Rescue). This extended cabin Westland Sea King Mk48, along with four others, were acquired by the Belgian Defence Air Component in July 1976 for search and rescue operations. This particular example "RS05", it is pictured here in painted in a special colour scheme to commemorate the Belgian Air Force's 25 years of successful Westland Sea King operations.
