Republic F-84F Thunderstreak Jet Fighter Plane

The Republic F-84F Thunderstreak was a 1949 development of the F-84 Thunderjet designed by Alexander Kartveli, the most important difference being the adoption of swept wings and it first flew in June 1950 and became operational with the USAF during May 1954. When the Republic F-84F Thunderstreak was originally proposed it was believed it would be able to utilise the majority of it's tooling from the F-84 but this proved to be impossible making the plane more costly than intended.

Other new designs looked a better proposition, the majority of aircraft were replaced in the 1960's by the F-100 Super Sabre, although a limited number of Thunderstreaks served with the US Air National Guard until 1971, the Greek air force continued to operated the RF-84F recognisance version until mid 1991.
