Lockheed EC-121 Warning Star Military Aircraft

The Lockheed EC-121 Warning Star was an airborne early warning radar surveillance aircraft based on the Lockheed Constellation airliner airframe and was consequently nicknamed the "Connie" by it's aircrews. A total of 232 EC-121 Warning Stars were produced and used by the USAF and USN from 1955 until 1978, their role gradually being taken over between 1977 and 1978 by the Boeing E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft.
