Fouga CM-170 Magister Military Trainer Aircraft

The Fouga CM-170 Magister was designed by Pierre Mauboussin as a potential primary jet trainer For the French Air-Force, it made it's first flight on the 23rd of July 1952 and entered French military service soon after. In 1958 Fouga was acquired sequentially by Potez, Sud-Aviation and finally Aérospatiale. Many CM-170 Magisters were built under license by Messerschmitt, Valmet and Israeli Aircraft Industries, resulting in a total of 918 Magisters being built.

The Fouga Magister pictured above was attending the 2006 Biggin Hill Air-Show and was one of the few remaining in service with the Belgian Air Force who have gave it the nickname "Whistling Turtle", they were retired from Belgian Air Force service in September 2007.
