Soko G-2A Galeb Military Trainer Aircraft

The G-2A Galeb (Seagull) was designed in Yugoslavia by Soko as an advanced trainer using a licence built Rolls Royce engine with the capability to also be used for counter-insurgency, ground-attack and reconnaissance. The Soko G-2A Galeb served operationally from 1964 to 1985, primarily with the Yugoslav and Libyan Air Forces. A total of 248 Galebs were produced and some have now found their way on to the civilian register, most notably one was purchased by the film star John Travolta.

  • Maximum speed: 505 mph (812 km/h)
  • Cruise speed: 453 mph (730 km/h)
  • Range: 772 mi with tip tanks (1,242 km )
  • Service ceiling: 39,400 ft (12,000 m)

Soko G-2A Galeb Armament:

  • Two nose mounted 12.7 mm (.50 cal) Colt-Browning M3 machine-guns in nose
  • Four 57 mm rockets (or)
  • Four 115 kg (250 lb) bombs (or)
  • Two 225 kg (500 lb) bombs
